Bourbon Caramelized Onions

Serves: 4 Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 shot bourbon

  • Kosher salt and ground black pepper


  • Melt butter in a small sauté pan.

  • Add onions to pan and cook for about 1 to 2 minutes until they start to brown.

  • Add brown sugar. Stir well and continue cooking for approximately 10 minutes or until onions are light brown, stirring constantly to prevent burning.

  • When onions begin to caramelize, remove from heat and add bourbon. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
